五月人形は、主に五月五日の「端午の節句」に向けて飾られる、日本の伝統的なしつらえです。
子どもの健やかな成長と、災いから守られることを願い、鎧や兜、武者人形などが飾られてきました。
もともと端午の節句は、季節の変わり目にあたる節目の日とされ、邪気を祓い、身を守るための意味を持つ行事です。
目に見えるかたちの奥にある、子どもの無事と成長を願う想いに、そっと触れていただければと思います。
Gogatsu Ningyo are typically displayed in early May, leading up to the Boys’ Festival (Tango no Sekku) on May 5th.
They express wishes for children’s healthy growth and protection from harm, often represented through armor, helmets, and warrior dolls.
Originally, this festival marked a seasonal turning point, a time to ward off misfortune and protect one’s well-being. Beyond what is seen, you may sense the quiet hope for a child’s safety and growth.
