お正月は、新しい年を迎え、年神様をお迎えするための大切な節目です。
しめ飾りは、主に年末から年始にかけて飾られ、神聖な場所と外の世界を分けるしめ縄に、飾りを添えたものです。
その内側は清められた場であり、神様をお迎えする場所であることを示しています。
古くから正月のしつらえとして用いられ、穢れを祓い、場を整える意味が込められてきました。
新しい年のはじまりに、この場所が整えられていることを表す、静かなしるしです。
